Property Factors (Scotland) Bill: call for views

The Local Government and Communities Committee is the lead committee for the Property Factors (Scotland) Bill.  This is a Member’s Bill and was introduced by Patricia Ferguson MSP on 1 June 2010. The Committee is seeking written evidence on the general principles of the Bill and invites all interested parties to submit views on the Bill. The Committee will take oral evidence in September.

Historic Environment (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill: call for evidence

The Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture Committee has issued a call for written evidence on the general principles of the Historic Environment (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill.

Damages (Scotland) Bill: call for evidence

The Justice Committee has issued a call for written evidence on the general principles of the Damages (Scotland) Bill, a Member’s Bill introduced on 1 June 2010 by Bill Butler MSP. The purpose of the Bill is to implement the recommendations of the Scottish Law Commission in its 2008 report on Damages for Wrongful Death. Submissions should be received, if possible, by no later than Tuesday 24 August 2010.

 

Palliative Care (Scotland) Bill : call for evidence

The Health and Sport Committee wants to hear the views of all interested parties on the general principles of the Palliative Care (Scotland) Bill introduced in the Scottish Parliament by Gil Paterson MSP.  The Bill’s main objective is to “secure access to palliative care (including end-of-life care) for everyone in Scotland with a progressive life-limiting condition and their family members”.

Wildlife and Natural Environment (Scotland) Bill: call for views

The Rural Affairs and Environment Committee is seeking views from organisations, bodies and individuals with an interest or involvement in the proposals contained in the Bill and their likely impact.

Views on the proposals should be submitted to the Committee by Wednesday 1 September 2010.

 

Inquiry into Scotland's Enterprise Network: call for evidence

The Economy, Energy and Economy Committee is calling for evidence as it launches its inquiry into the country’s enterprise network, comprising Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Development International.

The inquiry will analyse the current structure of, and activities carried out by, Scotland’s enterprise network. It will also explore what, if any, should be the fundamental role of a publicly-funded enterprise network and what alternative models exist.

Written evidence should be submitted by Friday 3 September 2010.

 

Protection of Workers (Scotland) Bill: call for evidence

The Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee wants to gather evidence from all interested parties on the general principles of the Protection of Workers (Scotland) Bill introduced by Hugh Henry MSP on 1 June 2010. 

The purpose of the Bill is to create a new offence of assault against a worker whose employment involves dealing with members of the public to any extent.

Written evidence should be submitted by Friday 3 September 2010.

Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Bill: call for evidence

The Justice Committee is seeking views on the general principles of the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Bill, a Member’s Bill introduced on 27 May 2010 by Rhoda Grant MSP. The Policy Memorandum states that the Bill has two main aims: to increase access to justice for victims of domestic abuse and to enable police and prosecutors to provide a more robust response to breached orders which in turn may deter abusers from further abusive action. MSPs' Registrable Interests: Proposed changes to Section 2 of the Code of Conduct: call for views

Proposed changes to categories of interests that MSPs are required to register, such as remuneration, sponsorship and gifts, have been published in a consultation by the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee.

The consultation suggests changing the law to combine certain categories and remove overlaps between others. The consultation also proposes that election expenses should no longer be registered with the Parliament as there is a separate monitoring regime administered by the Electoral Commission.

Responses to the consultation are invited by Tuesday 14 September 2010.

 

Commissioner for Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Bill: call for written evidence

The Scottish Parliament’s Justice Committee is seeking views on the general principles of the Commissioner for Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Bill, a Member’s Bill introduced on 27 May 2010 by David Stewart MSP. Further information can be found on the Commissioner for Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Bill Committee page.

The purpose of the Bill is to establish a Commissioner for Victims and Witnesses in Scotland whose general function would be to promote and safeguard the interests of victims and witnesses.

Autism (Scotland) Bill: call for evidence
